Auctions in Williamsburg?

What's the chances of condos being auctioned in Williamsburg (or any where else in NYC)? Auctions are picking up here in Atlanta with a new one announced for a highly desirable upscale area in midtown Atlanta starting at a minimum bid of 50-60% of initial asking price. Going rental seems to be the option of choice in NYC. Is there anything intrinsic in the NYC market that discourages auctions?
