Discussion about
What are generally thought of as the 5 best elementary schools in Manhattan? (not G&T, just regular-"general-admission"--assuming you're zoned,of course...). PS 6 is one right? What are the others.... THANKS

6, 290, 3, 41, 234, 199, 87, 116.

Other notables - Shuang Wen (the dual-language Mandarin/English in Ctown), PS9, 166, 75 are all up-and-coming in NYC. Any others, folks?

For non-zoned (lottery) - don't forget MSC & Midtown West.

40 has a pretty good reputation in the neighborhood. wouldn't consider it top 5, but was workable (heard of bad overcrowding, though).

agree with nyc10023 and would add PS 40 to the list.

I think 158 is ok? I know the class sizes are kept very small - like 18 but they mainstream which I have heard complaints...

yes, PS6 is the best. No other school compares. Plus, I went to PS6, where I got my butt kicked by the bullies :-(
