A sure sign that prices will continue to fall: http://www.cnbc.com/id/30455148 While housing prices are continuing to fall, prospective home buyers shouldn't wait any longer for the market to hit bottom, experts say. "Most of the big declines in home prices have occurred," says Lawrence Yun, the chief economist at the National Association of Realtors. "Any more will probably be minimal." Part of... [more]

I bet this IS closer to true in Miami, LA, or LV than it is in SF or NYC. Just looking at any of the "bubble charts" shows that the former cities are all much closer to historical ratios, and some like Atlanta are actually cheaper than historical ratios.

Given his predecessor's career ending statements, you would think Yun would be a bit more careful.

"Part of the reason is that homeowners are becoming more realistic in listing their asking price.

"Home prices are where they should be," says Robert Abbott, co-owner and VP of Abbott & Caserta Realtors in northern New Jersey. "Sellers are accepting the current reality and are pricing more realistically.""

Uh, does this guy not understand how markets work?

How does everyone LOWERING their asking prices mean that selling prices won't decline?

I don't know why I even asked that question.

lol, exactly nyc, why would any home buyer listen to what a realtor has to say about pricing! what are the chances that they are going to say something self-serving, 100%?
