This is going up not far from me. Slightly out of my price range. Pictures make it look nice. Not sure being right on the West Side Highway is all that appealing. https://www.wsj.com/real-estate/luxury-homes/80-clarkson-condo-building-nyc-842aab31?st=4U5gDk&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink
Triple pane windows cancel out the noise.
Not my favorite area, and I'm not a fan of big picture windows that face west: Blinding sun from cocktail hour until sunset. But, I'm sure those who want easy access to the Holland tunnel will be lining up to buy. Isn't there a heliport somewhere nearby for the Hamptons-bound?
These WSJ articles about rich people and exclusivity are so dopey. I recall one recently about their desire for privacy, even when dining out, via private clubs and/or private members sections of restaurants.
I know a number of very rich people. They don’t behave like this, nor do they respond to this sort of feigned exclusivity. I know a number of kinda wealthy people. Some of them respond, and these WSJ articles seem somewhere between advertising to them and letting the rest of the WSJ readership gawk at caricatures in a Real Housewives sort of way.
Case in point. I went to dinner at a beautiful new-ish hotel yesterday, and we had drinks at the bar lounge beforehand. My wife noted that the lounge extends quite far behind us, and when I turn around I notice a guy with an 11-figure net worth sitting there with his family. The patrons at the bar lounge and restaurant were all lovely and dressed to the T in their own ways, but I assure you they were not the private club crowd. (I am reminded of a person describing the clientele of a certain private club as “all bonds salesmen” in a most derogatory manner.)

It’s nice in the fall/winter/spring, as the sun goes down from the southwest. Summer makes it not only blinding, as its head-on, but also blaring hot. That’s why the most exclusive apartments have an east wing as well. But those floorplans are only shown to those qualified enough. And if you’re qualified enough, you won’t care as you’ve long gone on your personal helicopter to your “bungalow” in the Hamptons.
@inonada The lure of status drives all kinds of insane behavior. Part of the interest in living in the big city is being around other people from all walks of life, high, low and everywhere in between.
