Discussion about
I notice a ton of brokers still touting FiDi properties as zoned for PS 234 (arguably the best gen ed public in the city). The problem is that PS 234's zone will be redrawn next year and based on the numbers will likely include only a very tight zone in Tribeca (North of Murray perhaps). Everyone else will be zone for the two new and unproven schools that will be "incubating" in the Tweed building next year.
Of course, it will still be the kids of a bunch of yuppies.
You can talk about school quality all you want, the largest factor in education for the majority of students is the quality of the kids around the kid in question.
Now, of course, fu to the brokers in this case... but why would anyone be surprised.
Gasp! Another bloke that knows about school zones. Are you sure you're a dude?
I have been posting about Tweed/ps234/Spruce/etc for a while and warning people here not to base RE decisions on getting into ps234 but like our friend Rufus jr. here I am also not surprised that ps234 is still touted in listings.
Unlike Rufus jr., I know about IPN and the other families who have lived in tribeca for years who are not yuppies but what do expect from him?
BTW, I have also said that there is quite a bit of positivity regarding the two new schools from the parents that plan to be very active in the ptas. If anyone knows anything about the ps234 pta they will know that the involved parents are a big part of the school's success.

Except we're talking about FiDi, not Tribeca.... but try again!
