Prospect-Lefferts Gardens

I know people who live in PLG. You need to stay inside the PLG Historic Distric, and even better inside the Lefferts Manor District. Those blocks are pretty and relatively safe. Outside of there, PLG can be iffy. I also know that you shuld stay away from Flatbush ave because many of the apartment buildings are full of section 8 housing and drug dealers and there is a lot of street noise and people hanging out on the corners--even on the nicest blocks in Lefferts Manor, the corners near Flatbush can be really noisy all summer with all-night parties. Other than that, the only problem is a lack of amenities and restaurants. There are now 3 or 4 OK restaurants and 1 coffee house. I think it is one of those places that some people learn to like and others don't--based on my friends' experiences at least.
