I'm so disappointed I can't come. I have to be upstate at a planning board hearing re my neighbor who wants to start a tool-rental business on his property. West81, since you know where I live, maybe a raincheck on that pinot?

NYCMatt, there's no maybe about it.

Think about it. You could bring your laundry, toss it into nyc10023's multiple W/Ds, quaff a few, and your laundry will be ready for you at the end of an uproarious evening.

What could be more perfect?

Review it like it was an open house for those of us who live vicariously through you!!

I just want to apologize for that bizarrely sweet bottle of organic pinot blanc. Otherwise, a lovely evening, and W&R treated us very well.

Tina: No snark attacks allowed here. You were missed.

Great idea, and good meeting all who were there. I look forward to the next occasion. Perfect location, too. Can we try to keep these within five blocks of my apartment? That'd be great.

NWT: where were you? P09: you were missed. LP: where were you? UWSmom: ditto. I was looking forward to meeting my fellow UWSers. And Julia?

I stayed till the bitter end (closing on midnight) - AR, W81 were there. I was a wuss and took a cab a few blocks home as my feet were hurting.

I'm too zonked and grouchy at 6:30. And too much danger of getting past my one-glass limit. Next time, though.

W81 - I wasn't asking for snark, silly. I never thought your open house reports were snarky. (I never thought you were snarky at all, especially when I thought you were a lady.)
But I'll take aboutready's point and let it be like one of those closed door cabinet meetings the results of which you discover only gradually, through policy changes.

cccharley, as the keeper of the cash i felt compelled to stay until the bitter end as well. once spouseofAR showed up, i knew that my safe passage home was guaranteed. this was my third evening event of the week, and I am so spent. I am WAAAY too old for this. I am trying to review an offering plan but I just gave up.

mucho kudos to 10023 for suggesting this lovely event.

my husband told me that there is a bar in London named S'wine.

OMG - near midnight - I really did miss most of the fun! Who was left near the end. I need to be filled in. If I didn't have to take this 3.5 hour bus ride today I would have stayed. Oh yeah - I didn't sleep at all and my eye is twitching!

WELL - seems like everyone had a grand time; so glad! Apparently the police weren't called; no restraining orders issued; not even any dancing on tables??? I don't know if I'm relieved or disappointed.

sorry I missed it but I wasn't feeling well all day. Might have just been nerves, you know that "7th grade dance" feeling you never quite get over. (I have delivered speeches to hundreds and presentations to CEOs and government dignitaries but its different when its social)

jsfitz22, pursuant to part of our discussion, have you ever been to the mountainy/woodsy/lakey parts of Harriman State Park? Not the official lake beaches, but the light-hike-to parts? I think you'd like it.

alanhart, just the Bear Mtn. part - had a great hike - went a little off trail because we were getting very closely followed by the "aggressive/tamed" deer looking for food from us and stepped on a bee hive that was in the ground - the friend I was with had a purple fleece on and she got stung about a dozen times (I was only stung a few times). I just checked out the park online and didn't realize there was much more to it then just Bear Mtn. - may have to check it out again soon - thanks for the suggestion. Have you been to the trails behind Cold Spring? There are some good hikes there, too.

wish i could have been there. sounds like fun. hubby neglected to tell me prior to 4pm that he had a summer associate event last night. thought about swinging by w/ the little one at the very beginning to say a quick hello but she was STILL NAPPING at 6:30! Oh, summers in the park! Hope there will be a next time.

So, how many people showed up?

ar, a close friend of mine is a third-generation Mohonk guest. It sounds really great, but I've never been. Were you able to switch to all swine and no wine, though?

jsfitz22, I've never been to Cold Spring -- I didn't even figure it's woodsy because (if I'm not mistaken) it has a Metro North stop.

Is this off-topic?

it's no swine and no wine for me for the next month or so. then it's Europe, where i'll indulge to my little heart's content.

just start a recreation outside of NYC thread. QOL issues are relevant to real estate, methinks.

The Cold Spring hike is nice, especially if it helps you make room to eat at that little bistro -- Le Bouchon -- afterwards.
