Brokes Exodus Wall Street

The WSJ front page article wednesday titles "Brokers Wall Street Edodus on the Rise" listed that 11,600 brokers have already left this year, which is more already then the previous yearly high or 11,500. It then said 2,800 have left in April, and projected 35,000 by the end of the year. What do you think this will effect RE in manhattan.

it's going to be a ghost town...why people would want to live there (unless they have a weekend home) is beyond me.

It won't....first of all, retail stock brokers are spread all over the country, In manhattan, most are located in midtown (except a ML office at WFC and most of those guys live in Jersey) and lastly, most of the brokers that are leaving are the chronic underperformers - not really good candidates for expensive condos... that said, living in wall street must suck and the RE down there is doomed but it has nothing to to with brokers quitting...
