Why do I feel so anxious?

Not to worry.... it's a big step to take. I remember feeling the same way. No matter what is happening in the real estate market, if you've found a home you love, enjoy! Good luck to you.

First, its a good sign you feel the way you feel. It means you likely bought smart.

Second, remove SE from your favorites. It has served its purpose and you bought at a decent time and hopefully at a smart price, thanks to SE.

Now, if you haven't done so already, blow up the floorplan and start planning your new space. Go out and buy a great bottle of wine and set it aside for the day you get the keys.

Never heard of 'buyer's remorse'??? It's probably a perfectly natural reaction but if you're smart enough to be on SE, you've probably made an excellent, well-informed purchase. Congratulations - & enjoy your new home!

I threw up the day we closed on our first place. That purchase was the best decision I ever made, and I knew it was a great deal, and I still threw up.

Totally normal. Even at the peak people felt this way. It will soon be replaced by exasperation with your bank, irritation with the state/city taxation policies, disbelief at the hoops you have to jump through. Then one day in the not-so-distant future, you will sit at a table with a bunch of functionaries and their calculators and sign away your life savings till your hand cramps. Fun!

But you know what? After all that, those people will exit your life forever, and you will get to live in your own home - which, despite everything, is a totally joyous thing. It's like having kids, or pets, or a wooden sailboat. Even when it appears to make no sense financially, your life seems better for it. I wish you many happy years!

It simply falls in to the category of "firsts", and they are almost always anxious moments. It usually reflects upon the fact that you are making a commitment that you generally are not comfortable with. A sense of permanency about it if you will. Like getting married, you think yeh, it'll be great, then, all of a sudden you are like, what the hell am I doing!. My life was based upon the thrill of the hunt!, What will I do with this primal instinct? We are designed to hunt, kill, eat. Rest....repeat. It is a very disheartening thing to imagine, I will never see some hot babe willing drop trough for the first time, I will never take the SAT test again, I will never be able to simply walk away from this apt without getting major league hurt...Yep be full of anxiety, be full of unease. Welcome to your future. Congratulations...peace.

ah yes the blues...no matter whether they win the president's cup or simply limp in, they're bound to disappoint. at least i'm not also a cubs fan!
