the apartments with the 15ft ceilings have the loft space well under 7ft, therefore ''technically" that space cannot be counted in the square footage. The price per REAL square foot is therefore outrageous at current prices

If this is the building I'm thinking (corner of Amsterdam/86), I'm not impressed. The apartments feel cramped and small, although the high ceilings help with the claustrophobic feeling. I pass this building everyday and I love the location of 86th street, but Amsterdam above 86th is very seedy with all the low income housing on the next corner (although it's slowly changing with the help of a few new restaurants). Also I worry about whats going to happen with the church across the street.

Which "low income housing on the next corner" are you talking about exactly? Do you mean 125 West 87th Street?

CORRECTION - sorry, typo! I meant 175 West 87th Street. It's on the NE corner of 87th and Amsterdam.
