building at 250 East 65th Street - mouse infestation

Is this true? Do you know if anybody has done anything about it. We are considering purchasing in the building.

Mice are a problem everywhere. Just because you don't see them, doesn't mean they aren't there. Should be solvable via exterminator.

Rats on the other hand....

Maybe you are right, but it is certainly something to look in to. I am not so certain it is normal for large quantities of mice to be in residential buildings.

I have cats and have never seen a mouse in all of my many years in Manhattan. neighbors have had them but they can smell the cats and stay away...

It is absolutely true. Ask for the board minutes - the April memo sent to all owners should be there. If not, I can email the memo to you - if you are comfortable sharing your email. Also, there is even a Yahoo discussion board that was set up by one of the owners to organize. It is a massive problem.

RS, isn't it interesting that back in the day a 'speedy' mouse was funny b/c of the ethnic stereo type associated with Mexican nationals. This was clearly displayed in the compadraes of 'speedy' who presented themselves as lazy slow mexicans. I grew up right here so my relationship with spanish speaking people was mostly limited to Puerto Rician folks and other spanish speaking people who I assumed were Puerto Rician. What's interesting now with the large influx of Mexican nationals to New York it would seem that south of the boarder there are a huge group of 'Speedys' preparing to work hard and fast and...try to take your job...in a generation or two.
