Not mentioned in the article are recent changes to rules for financing condos. Just six months after financing our purchase of a condo in a small, established building (NOT new; 100% sold, 100% occupied), the same lender (Wells Fargo) is now turning us down for a re-fi (ARM to fixed rate) until the building is approved -- apparently a long, drawn-out process, such that the banker offered to refund our application fee rather than see the transaction through.

also now they have to document income. back to sanity means more red tape sometimes.
