I scare easily. I find the idea of someone studying us, and then posting about us online without revealing his/her identity threatening. Nothing to do with whether you find us ugly or cute. Post by all means, rate us from 1 to 10. But reporting anonymously - that is threatening to me.

First, aramis, I'm going to make a guess based on the past couple posts that English is not your first language. Based on that, let me explain that writing
"I'll be observing them anonymously on their meeting" is a really, really creepy thing to write on a msg board. Even if you didn't mean you were going to *DO* anything besides write about the poster's looks, there is a stalking implication the way you wrote it, particularly because you singled out female posters. If you truly didn't mean it, you owe them an apology, and I have a few movies you should rent.

For those of you mentioned in aramis' original post, don't worry. There will be plenty of us there.

Also, I think there was the implicit trust (I'm a fool, okay) that we promise not to out each other on these message boards. I'm not getting the sense that aramis is going to play by those rules.

bubbles, sure, but it would be a positive thing to post about someone who is fun and cute. to say that you plan on telling the world about the negative physical attributes of someone reeks of issues.

nyc10023, aramis/westelle, et al., the ones who are reporting on our gym habits, weight issues, and insisting that our mates are screwing around on us? credibility zero. and knows it. as such this is just a note to make us feel uncomfortable, and deter the sense of community we have here. there are some mighty angry people out there.

Since when does going to the gym make one ugly? Think of it this way: we beautiful gym-toned people will all be laughing and having tons of fun, while loser Aramis will not be able to get close enough to figure out precisely who anyone is lest he reveal himself as the stalker. He will make inaccurately attempt to out people he dislikes on the board, and we will all pity him because he will have inadvertently revealed himself as that slob drinking alone in a corner.

Thanks Alan. Generally speaking, I don't react much since the elections. I'm just concerned that these people are trying to destroy this board. I live 5000 miles away, and SE keeps me not only knowledgeable about RE (I am a sideline buyer) but also it means being connected to the city I love and the kind of newyorker spirit I appreciate. Also, it sharpens my english, it being my second language. I will be very sad if some ignorant, mediocre righteous assholes manage to kill it.

mimi, wikipedia is an on-line dictionary that is monitored by many people and covers just about everything you could imagine, and much that you could not, irregardless of your knowledge and engagement. it isn't always accurate, but the wiki community is pretty vigilant, and although many deride it as a source of knowledge, i'll confess i'm grateful for it. i've covered ignorance many a time with it. just search any topic or name and add wiki to your search.

nycgal, I just wanted to put in perspective the assumption that I am single, old, overweighed, etc. I might be these at any time, though, and I don't see why being this way will make me a lesser person. Some of the greatest human beings of all times shared this characteristics. I truly don't give a damn about brokers looking bad or posters being ugly, never posted any comment on these subjects.

I thought this was a real estate site and was hoping this post was about ugly architecture...disappointing...

Hey, what do I have to do with this? This is crazy.
English is not my first language, either. And I'm by no means an agent/broker of whatever, and unlike others here, will never be.
I happen to own several property here and in Europe, am young, happily married and love my job. So leave me out of this.
