How did you learn about Street Easy?

I dont even recall how I found out about it, however I have told a LOT of people about the site. I suspect its all word of mouth, as I have also never seen any advertising or marketing efforts. I too would be interested to know how they get people to visit.

sadly, its been so long, I can even remember. Maybe through Urban Digs, which was referred to me by a friend in Boston of all places.

These days they get a good amount of press, so perhaps people are brought in after reading about SE in the Times or NY Mag.

I can't remember how I found it. UrbanDigs, maybe? I do remember the experience of finding it, though. It was quite the rush.

This is an interesting topic the more that I think about it. It seems most of us dont recall how we found out about SE, yet they have a very strong following. Has anyone seen SE ads or marketing materials, or has this really spread via word of mouth? Perhaps they employed some guerilla marketing that we all fell captive to without even realizing it!

I think I googled an address or building name and SE was one of my search results. It was a very accidental find.

I'm pretty sure that's where I found out about SE because that's how I found out about brownstoner, propertygrunt, urbandigs, manhattanloftguy, truegotham, a lot of the BK blogs (but mostly from bstoner), and so on.

Now how did you find out about curbed would be an intersting one also.
Don't know how I found it but I was reading Lockhart's blog before he started curbed so of course he annouced his new venture.

I'm pretty sure I found out about it on curbed, but can't remember how I heard about curbed in the first place...

i'm pretty sure i found about streeteasy from curbed. and i think i found about about curbed from racked? or eater? or maybe gawker. lol ...
and streeteasy is by far the best of all of them.

A friend told me about SE over lunch last summer. I appreciate knowing because SE is such a game-changer for anyone who does not want their market information filtered through brokers, but I also curse him because he got me addicted. I found out about urbandigs from SE.

pretty sure it was UD. i agree with avery. curbed can be amusing, SE is thought-provoking. a big hearty thanks to w67th for taking the time out of his busy schedule to invent.

Seach led me to UD, shortly thereafter, somehow navigated here.

Yup, found SE through curbed. Actually, once I found curbed everything regarding NYC real estate and NYC centric blogs was at my finger-tips via the links they offered. I found curbed when I was rental searching and just browsing for apartments.

Side rant. Curbed has jumped the shark. Registration is fine but damn, avatars? Really? Makes it look so childish and grade school. So glad that SE doesn't do avatars.

The first time I did the advanced search here, it was such a breath of fresh air I swore never to go back to the nytimes search... and I haven't.

Ditto on NYT search, except that I never consciously swore off it. It just never occurred to be to go back once I had found SE.

Put me down for via Curbed.com! I don't care what anyone says, I loved curbed! Loved - with an 'ed, past tense. Curbed - bring back the anons! :) or like triple 1 stated, get rid of the avatars. SE is by far the best place for those wanting to buy. Bar none... so far.

I found out about streeteasy on NYC-TV; streeteasy was profiled and I ran to my computer right away to look it up and have been a regular ever since. This was 2007.

Some mom on the UWS mentioned that a friend of hers started this website. This was 3+ years ago. I only started posting 6 months ago.
