Discussion about
When the A is working like it should be, without all the current changes, how awful is it really, with all the tunnels, elevators, commmute time, weekends etc Found the perfect apt to buy and like the area the only downside is the A train so can't decide. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

All subway lines have weekend construction/disruptions. Didn't know the A was particularly bad.

A lot of people like the A b/c it is express from 125 - 59 sts. I don't think the A is any worse than any other line.

I actually really like the A. When it's good, it's very good.... the problem is that a lot of areas served by the A is only served by the A, so when things are bad, there are no other options. Are you thinking uptown commute or Bklyn commute?

I think the "A" train is probably among the most reliable, even w/ the temporary service disruptions. What I have noticed of late is the unreliability of the B/D/V/F lines. I've literally waited 20 minutes for those in the middle of a day.

I wish they'd bring in those new subways cars to "A" soon, so I won't have to feel as though I were still in the 80s.

The A train is generally reliable based on my experience. The subway system is 100 years old and there will ALWAYS be construction delays on every single line at one time or another.
