Given that there are so many listings on this site, and that they dont allow FSBO, where does SE get their listings from? Do they just do a daily pull from OLR, or do they crawl all the other RE sites and simply pull the listings that way? I figured there is no way that each listing is being uploaded by a broker either (to time consuming), so I am just trying to figure out how they do it! If anyone can shed light on this that would be great.
The simple answer is that we receive feeds from most brokers and many (hundreds) of small brokers enter their listings directly into StreetEasy. In reality it's a bit more complicated, but the bottom line is that we strive to get frequent updates from the source of the listing. We prefer quality over quantity, hate duplicates and fakes, so we avoid easy listings from intermediaries.
So you get XML (or similar) feeds directly from Corcoran (for example), or does each individual broker at Corcoran send you a feed? The reason I ask is because it looks like you could just to a batch download from a site like OLR which would have all the listings, not just those from (agian using an example) Corcoran. Bottom line is you have a great site, and I just want to understand how you are getting your data since it seems quite accurate!
Now that I think about it, couldnt you also just crawl all their (large brokerage) sites daily to make sure your listings are fully up to date? That would ensure that any listing that is "in contract" would immediately be removed from SE. Still, regardless of how you guys do it the result is great.
