I lived there in a small one bedroom. Many diplomats and their associates live there. Nice apartments but the area is totally isolated.

I used to live there in a coverted 3 bedroom with 2 roomates when I first moved to the city. We had a patio and a river view and it was gorgeous. The building is clean, the doormen are great, I loved the sense of calm when I walked in and saw the water fountain. The only cons are that it is all the way on 1st ave so it is far from the subway on park. Other then that, the neighborhood is great. The movie theater and Borders is 2 blocks away. There are a ton of great bars/restaurants on 3rd. Its a great building.

For the price you would pay at the rivergate you can get the same apartment on 2nd or 3rd.

Be wary of the noise from the heliport. Lived there right out of college and it was very dorm-like but this was '94 - 98
