Go to the East Side location and never look back....Trust me, you will quickly forget that the west side place even existed.

Really really bad but warm bagels on the Upper West Side? I can't think of anything quite Wonderbready enough to replace them.

Kosher spot on Amsterdam & 79th. I am happy to hear H&H closed, hopefully for good. East Side is better, but not a reasonable option for West siders...

UES one is fake. Forget it. Those bagels suck. its not h&h, its dave's or something's kosher h&h bagel suck land.

Go to the factory. Its just off the west side highway at 48th or so. Its where they make the bagels!

Eddie, the article says that the factory location of 'Hot & Horrible' was shut down also, which makes sense for a tax action.

bugelrex, take up baking.

Tal bagels - 90th/ 91st and Bway are good. Barney Greengrass sell H&H bagels - 86th and Amsterdam - also, a little bagel joint on Amsterdam on the West side of the street between 77 and 78 is pretty strong.

What will I do without H&H? Need to extend my real estate serach since it was in 2 block radius of bagel mecca.

Zabar's instore bagels are really good. I hate H&H. Puffy and tasteless.

No Columbia Hot Bagels? No H&H? Next thing you know there'll be an Einstein Brothers on Broadway.

"Eddie, the article says that the factory location of 'Hot & Horrible' was shut down also, which makes sense for a tax action."

the factory too! uh oh.

BTW, if you really need some bagels... ave X bagels.

They were always better than H&H (just didn't have he luxury of manhattan and tv exposure).

I dig H&H but I always thought they were a little too "manufactured".. .like soft baked cookies. There was TOO much crispy shell going.

The best bagels had some fluff in the middle plus the crispy shell.

Used to also be two places that faced each other on Flatlands around 80th, but one went a few years back, and I think the other now too.

> Barney Greengrass sell H&H bagels

Worst bagels I ever had in the 5 boroughs were at BG. And I like H&H.

But do they get stale ones? A special blend of sucky bagel?

Seriously, why where they so bad?

front_porch, that place is between 107 & 108, and it's AMAZING. They also make their own spreads. I hoped to keep it a secret.

Wowza! just read it on Curbed. Considering what they were charging I hve no sympahthy. Considering the lines that I used to see(have not been passing by) I suspect the owners were bleeding the place dry and ran...

Say manhattan if you wish, but don't pretend the outer borough treat is better in the inner borough...

Ask for Davidovich bagels. They are truly old fashioned. They are kettle boiled, hand rolled, wood plank cooked and Kosher. Best tasing Bagels around
