Luckily, everyone in the closing was very accommodating and friendly. The sellers gave me the keys anyway, even though they're waiting for the check from the bank (They have all of my funds). Everything is signed.

I suppose I'll post up the details on it once the closing is completely.

mdasch, if you have the keys i think you are entitled to the full congrats. in 2001 my husband attended our closing, i couldn't make it. he shows up, our stuff is loaded on the moving van, and the bank rep says they haven't cleared title yet. luckily, he didn't call me and called the title company instead and told them to get off their sweet .... and get title cleared. they did so after 3 hours, and my husband called to tell me it was a go and the movers should get moving. i was never aware of how close i was to totally going out of my mind with anger.

i had wire issues too (if it makes you feel better) bank forgot to wire the funds, then they did but very late. banks attorney got very lost getting ... ect ect

ah...a slip of the mighty brokers's tongue.

This ALWAYS happens -- the banks no longer wire the day before because they want to sit on the funds overnight.

Bad on your lawyer and your real estate agent for not telling you that it would work this way -- and somebody on the transaction should have been watching the wire! Where were your bank attorneys? Where was your title person? This is always a snag, but you pay all these people to smooth it.

My lawyer did tell me... So I wasn't completely unaware. None of us knew how haphazardly it was going to be done. The bank's attorney was on his Blackberry the entire time trying to work it out. Ultimately, it ended up being the local TD Bank's fault for returning the wire.

What makes a great closing is when your RE agent stops by your new place before the closing to slip a surprise cheesecake in the fridge!

I'll just be happy when my RE agent learns how to spell the word 'you'.

The very first closing ever had as an agent was an all cash transaction with no payoff bank and neither the buyer nor the seller used Real Estate attorneys (i.e. they used "friends" or FOTF, etc.).

So, at the closing, NO ONE had done a UCC search. So I spent most of my first closing pulling strings with some title agents I knew to do a very fast turnaround (4 hours) and running my ass over to pick up the papers. Than god it was a 10Am closing (which still didn't finish till almost 5PM).
