I almost purchased here. I was down to this building and 500 4th Ave in Park Slope. I went with 500 because I am a Brooklynite. But I was very impressed with this building. It had a nice layout, great floor plans, decent finishings and lots of storage... both inside the apartment (deep closets) as well as a unit in the basement.

I pay a fraction of this to rent in a better area. I don't get it.

'The Astoria' condo is one of the very few decent looking building in all of Astoria - since most Astoria constructions seem to only use very cheap materials and have ridiculous layout or floor plans. But the prices for the units are disproportionate for an area that has stopped growing a long time ago. for the same price a much better investment can be found with better buildings, interior finishes, neighborhoods and even better monthly cost. The common charges on the units would make you feel dizzy.

I am not surprised that half of the units are still unsold after three years being in the market.

I agree with RalphTV. Many of the Brooklyn condos offer a considerably superior quality of living, interior finishes, appliances and amenities in wonderful neighborhoods with culture and promise of resale value within the same price range and far cheaper common charges. I am not from Brooklyn but I decided to go for a Brooklyn condo as well.
