rich-boy. full-time, retired-cop or military experience licensed to carry a weapon and capable of protecting you and/or children, always available. You provide the car and he is yours for 65-75k per year.

for a basic no-frills driver, i'd assume $10-$12 an hour, if you provide the car (this is what my company pays it's drivers. they have no professional skills other than a good sense of direction). if you want a bodyguard type or someone with executive/defensive driver training, or an ex-military guy, there will be a premium. i'd assume $70-90k depending on the quality of the guy. for about $100k you can hire a certified butler (yes, there is an actual international alliance of butlers - almost like a union.)

rich boy: one other point. be careful with the employment structure. he could become your liability when he crashes the car and hurts someone, you are the deep pockets. Remember, liability has nothing to do with responsibility, only ability to pay. One of the weaknesses of the two-party system, we have to take the bad with the good. This is why most folks I know simply hire car services instead of having their own driver.

Special defensive driving training/body guard and licensed to carry a firearm, then add more money. Why are you asking?

I don't like car service because Town Cars are such an unsavory way to travel and I'd rather use something nicer.

If you buy a butler, you need to find out what he feeds on, and the correct feeding schedule, or he'll die and you'll have to buy and break in another one.

Um, Jason, I think that's what muffets eat, not butlers. Maybe oats or groats or whiskey.

I have one of those high end butlers, ex-military & highly trained in the art of self defense (to keep me safe of course). http://tinyurl.com/m4ypjb

I need to buy someone to post on streeteasy for me, not enough hours in the day. Maybe he/she can do my laundry and clean the litter box as well.

JM...Why can't your cat post for you? Sometimes this place reminds me of a cat fight...and sometimes of an (overripe) cat box. But then again if I asked my felines to post I'm sure they would respond that THEY have better things to do...like sleep, eat or chase toy mice.

" Our chauffeurs will drive to your home or office and then drive for you in your car. "

Sounds good... but most garages won't allow a "trade" with another car. Where will the guy park?
