How often are listings updated?

Hi.I have been checking SE daily, in search of a 1bd apartment with gym, no fee, about $2500. I saw many listings as such but some appeared to be very old and may have been rented. I am wondering if anyone knows how often the brokers/owners update their posted listing? Or do they just leave it up to attract renters? Thanks.
