Discussion about
Has anyone experienced this? I have a signed contract to purchase in new construction building. I just got a letter stating that the purchase price will be increased by $10K!! I am really having regrets about this purchase.

I've heard of such a letter, but stating that the price increases IF YOU BACK OUT. In other words, they've filed a higher price with the NYS Atty Gen's office for a (potential) alternate buyer if you don't close. Your contract is probably still binding. Carefully re-read the letter and let us know if yours is as I described.

What does your lawyer say? It sounds outrageous but I'm hoping #2 is correct & you've already "made" 10 grand!

#2 is correct. I also am in contract on new construction. There have been several offering plan amendments since my contract was executed, including two price increases on my unit, to the tune of $50K. I am definitely not obligated to pay more than the price in my contract. I think this practice is actually pretty routine, when it comes to new construction.
