Discussion about
http://www.streeteasy.com/nyc/rental/492949-condo-111-hudson-street-tribeca-new-york So this tribeca rental was asking $8,500 and had been on the mkt for a while. The broker increases the ask $1,500 to $10,000 and then the apt mysteriously goes off the mkt three days later. It probably rented for somewhere between $8-8.5K and the shady broker jacked up the rent right before delisting it so when someone looks at the prior listing next time it's available for rent they'll think they were asking $10K. Guess they assume people are too lazy to click through to the listing history. This is just pathetic. And morally/ethically corrupt.
alternative theory: everything you said except insert "$7-7.5K", or whatever other lower number, where you have "$8-8.5K". Doesn't change the bs broker optics argument, which sounds right, but you may be giving them the benefit of the doubt by assuming it went close to ask after lingering in an oversupplied market.
Who says it rented...wouldn't be surprised to see it comeback on market soon with "reduced" prices
