Discussion about
Hello Fellow Streeteasy residents, I'm a current resident of the Cobble Hill/Brooklyn Heights neighborhood's here in BK. I'm looking to move into the city and have been eying the "FULL SERVICE, Luxury Buildings" so aggressively marketed in the Financial District. I do not work on WALL ST, rather in my Studios/Showroom in williamsburg. But I'm intrigued by what the FiDi buildings might offer. DOES ANYONE HERE live down there ? Is it a deadzone after 7pm ? Do they have good restaurants that deliver dinner until 10PM ? Will I starve to death and Do I have to be non-creative to live there ???? YOUR HELP and Advice, no matter what it is, is greatly appreciated ^__^ ! ! ! Thanks in advance

DOES ANYONE HERE live down there ?
Yes, I do.
Is it a deadzone after 7pm ?
No, but it can be block by block.
Do they have good restaurants that deliver dinner until 10PM ?
That is one thing you will probably miss. Restaurant options down here are generally mediocre and not plentiful. Happily, you're near a bunch of subway lines, so if you desperately need sustenance and are unfamiliar with using a stove, you can always hop on a train to an area with better restaurant offerings.
Will I starve to death and Do I have to be non-creative to live there ????
I think you'd have to work pretty hard to starve to death. You can be whatever you want and live here. Kind of like everywhere else in the city.

Thanks for the input everyone ;)

evnyc: much appreciated commentary. I've been reading up on what life is like in the FiDi - I just wanted to hear some first hand accounts of what the day-to-day is like down there.

Thanks again everyone

Well, rest your pretty head, Lexx, there's plenty of creative types down here. They don't have a monopoly on the area, so there isn't the aggressively hipster vibe you get elsewhere (as you can probably deduce from my tag, I lived for years in the East Village and have been very happy to make the change). You'll need to be careful that you don't wind up in a building that isn't filled with frat boys, such as 45 Wall, unless that's the environment you're seeking. It is more family-oriented in Fidi. It's nice; you get a lot of cross-sections of life. Search the discussions and you'll find plenty of info about Fidi.
