Discussion about
because he talks fast, sound plausible and is a complete liar: "The 8 years of Bush wouldn't have needed to have been such a spending and leverage bubble if we didn't need to dig ourselves out of a depression caused by the Clinton years ..." And let's not forget that any and all spending under Bush could only have been authorized by the DEMOCRATICALLY-controlled Congress ...." hear is matt's explanation of who was running congress during the first 6 years of the bush administration.
here here...... talks first and thinks later majority of the time... (30 min commute from Inwood to Downtown comes to mind)
does have good points once in a blue moon, i'll give him that.
he was a genius with the sheer drapes....or not; I don't know anything about sheer drapes.
but for the rest, he is full of shit.
columbiacounty, w67thstreet, and Dwayne_Pipe, you guys need to give it a rest
how do you feel about his comment about who controlled congress?
or is the idea here to just say whatever you want without any facts whatsoever?
how about this one? pretty useful?
"And *I* think you have a crush on me."
why are any of these threads relevant?
they're not...that's the point.
he's back---be careful
Oh for God's sake, so I made a mistake. There's a first time for everything, you know.
The Democrats have been in control only since 2007. Perhaps I erred because it FELT like 12 years.
The point about the Dems controlling congress since 2007 is very valid. Obama consistently mentions how he "inherited" this mess putting the blame directly on the Republicans. But Obama's claims fail to admit that for 3 years now the Dems have controlled Congress.
Dems control includes these committees -
House: Ways and Means, Appropriations, Budget
Senate: Finance, Budget
From wiki "Congress has authority over financial and budgetary matters, through the enumerated power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States. The Sixteenth Amendment extended power of taxation to include income taxes.[7] The Constitution also grants Congress exclusively the power to appropriate funds. This power of the purse is one of Congress' primary checks on the executive branch.[7] Other powers granted to Congress include the authority to borrow money on the credit of the United States, regulate commerce with foreign nations and among the states, and coin money."
To blame the White House for our financial troubles tell only part of the story.
My point isn't that Republicans are innocent, as clearly the path they put us on was irresponsible and unsustainable (especially the health care bill passed in 2003). But for the Dems to blame this on the Republicans is laughable. All of them are guilty, greedy, shortsighted, and deserve to be voted out. (all but Jeff Flake that is)
Wow ... I don't check SE that often now that I live in LA, but I looooooove coming back for the drama!
how simplistic.
sorry, but people, sheeple, who gives a rat's ass, really? does anyone think that the economy improved over the W years? does anyone think greenspan helped our economy? the dotcom bust began on clinton's watch and resulted in a jobless recovery (hard to tell because W instituted his trickle down measures commensurate with the recession). the bottom line is that we had a decent but percolating economy without a couple trillion dollar war to finance when Clinton left office, and we had a bubblicious economy with no real job growth and a huge deficit AND war costs and obligations eight years later.
it is ludicrous to point to a party for this (although W as president has the greatest culpability, in my opinion, for lack of oversight once the ramifications should have been clear). point to the individuals, and there are many, all of whom are in bed with wall street. hell, stop there, point to wall street. after that, you will find many decent people within both parties who had no stomach for what we are enduring currently.
btw, cc, are congratulations in order?
AR...you're back..welcome..you were missed on SE.
oh most definitely.

What a whore. This from the woman who hates Judge Sotomayor because she's not intellectual enough, from the woman who lives in a rent stabilized apartment because she's unwilling to pay her own housing costs, who hates Wall Street but whose husband is a corporate lawyer, who can take off for 2-3 week vacations because she otherwise has nothing to contribute, who talks badly about her own daughter.
columbiacounty congratulations on finally having your Bris!!
and whence it becomes, and whence it went
how simplistic.
What the heck is the problem with columbiacounty and NYCMatt? Please explain the logic
lmao
heh?
NYCMatt is a jerk and a loudmouthed idiot who gets just enough right to sound plausible.
Columbia is a frequent poster who presents good information and analysis of the RE market.
Same for Aboutready.
Quicknight is like NYCMatt, except (mercifully) posts far less frequently. Possibly a second id for Matt, given his insecurities and desperate need to work them out on an anonymous board.
That clear things up?
thanks, please post a few of the better examples of the good information and analysis of the RE market from Columbia so we may judge this ourselves
why oh why should anyone do this?
who are you and what's your problem?
perhaps you may want to post some examples of your own erudition.
please give us all a break.
"judge this ourselves?" you sound like a bad episode of star trek.
At this point, if you care, you shouldn't
Bush and his cronies wrecked this country.
Damn republicans!!!
You are a jerk
So he's a Republican you need to be careful of him? LMAO
lmao
