Discussion about
interesting take - from Rolling Stone, no less - on how Goldman cooked its booked. Part of a larger story on how they supposedly create the bubbles they profit from (which I absolutely agree on the tech and oil fronts). http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/29127316/the_great_american_bubble_machine/6

Great find nyc (though I only read the bailout piece) - I'm sure there are people who will disagree with the author here, but there's no denying that they'll bend the rules to their favor every time. Not really surprising, but something really should be done to curb some of this stuff, especially the "geographic earnings mix" malarkey.

Unfortunately for the rest of Wall Street, they usually leave them hanging (owning the assets they're dumping).

That is the most civil exchange I have ever seen between bjw & nyc. Did I miss the intervention?

Sorry JuiceMan, I must have drank the Kool-Aid (or the Juice, maybe?). To his credit, he's posted some decent stuff of late. Helps that a fair amount of others are posting things of - let's be gentle here - lesser quality.

Ah, don't get carried away. Like everyone, you're right sometimes, wrong others. I won't hesitate to tell you when I think you're right (or not, as the case may be).

"Did I miss the intervention?"

It was conducted by petrfitz. Enemy of my enemy is my friend. Kind of touching, actually.

Oh, there you are yepyepper, my little doggie!! I was worried sick about you, were you hanging out with the stray mutts or cruising around town in your Porsche (did everyone know he has a Porsche??) harassing the cats? Please come home to west 67th street so we can apply your hemorrhoid cream.

Of course, when you think I'm wrong, I'm usually even more right.

You couldn't just go with the flow, could you? Seriously though, that's just a conceited and poor statement.

How can I relax with all this housing crashing around me? And you definitely need housing for the latter two. Well, in most cases.

Well, sign a new lease for 20% less and spend the difference on pot and trinkets for the ladies...

You guys need to go to the zoo together or something. Go watch the sea lions, hold hands, drink a beer, skip, maybe play tag. I don't know, do something.

JuiceMan, I was thinking Lion King on Ice, snow cones, and Terms of Endearment. Too cliche?

sad isn't piggy.... that your greatest joy is to follow me on all the threads? Who's the bitchy little chihuahua following? Take some more notes... I like Starbucks breakfast roast.... one cane sugar no milk...

Sorry to ruin the karma here, but I liken this article to a cab driver offering investment advice. Rolling Stone does a great job of reporting about rock & roll and should stick to what it knows.

Yes, better to have 10,000 brokers with no understanding of the economy + 10 million americans with no understanding of, well, math.... doing the investment advice.

That really got us far....

"Buy now or be priced out forever".

Not to mention, one has to question the accuracy of the complaint when uptowngirl thinks he's a MUSIC writer. Perhaps she is the one whose writing we should be ignoring...

He can't seem to leave you alone.

nyc, comparing the big-3 rescue to wall st. is like apples to oranges. Sweeping generalizations and 'conspiracy theories' do more to sell magazines than inform the world about how to resolve the issues.

uptowngal, economists are linking to this article like mad, and commenting rather favorably as well.

nopigz is twice as unhinged as w67th, but not even close to half as amusing. but he seems to be working at it, so that's nice.
