Sale at 5800 Arlington Avenue #5-J

There is an express bus at 261 and Riverdale Avenue just a few blocks away that provides service to midtown-- with routes going to both east and west sides. With traffic it can take 90 minutes to cover the full route but it its "door to door". Cost was $5 each way not sure if it was impacted by recent fare increase.

The express bus fare from Riverdale to Manhattan is now $5.50. Depending on when you commute in, it can be as little as 50 mins to midtown or as much as 90 mins. The express bus schedule to the east side is the BxM1, and the bus to the west side is the BxM2. You can see their schedules http://www.mta.info/busco/schedules/index.html.

There is also the bus and subway option. The Bx10 and Bx7 bus will each get you to the 231 St #1 train station. From there, the train, which i take most days to 79 St is approximately 26 mins. If you were going to 42 or 34 St, you can change for the express #2 or #3 train at 96 St. I have done that and the total time on the train, from 231 St to 34 St is approximately 30-35 mins. The Bx7 bus is a shorter rout to the train. IMO, the Bx7 to the train will be your fastest route into midtown west.

If you need to get to the east side, then you can either take the BXM1 express bus, or Metro North from Riverdale to Grand Central Station. That ride is 27 mins. MTA provide the Hudson Rail Link which connects to every train into and out of the city Monday to Friday. This is the Rail Link schedule http://www.mta.info/mnr/html/raillink/schedules/riverdaleny_sched.htm, which also shows you the train schedule. 5800 Arlington is part of Skyview, which offers its residents a shuttle service to the Riverdale train station, if you choose to not walk. The station is at 254th St, and the walk from Skyview is a downhill walk.
