Discussion about
Hey guys, Quick question for you. I remember when I first moved back to the city after grad school that apartments were selling on Central Park South for about 1.75m and were about five rooms. The total square footage came to about 1200-1400 square feet to my memory and for some reason I keep thinking they're at Hampshire House but I've taken a look at all of the floorplans in that building and... Hampshire House has lots of different layouts, especially on the upper floors because of the setbacks. If you remember the maintenance as having been very high (due to hotel services) that's probably it. Can't think of any other CPS prewars that'd fit the bill.

Shame, as it was only in 2006 and 2007 that I remember these apartments being listed with realistic prices. Oh well, they'll come down from their high horse when they can't get a loan.

Hampshire House: Dedicated to yesterday's charms and tomorrow's conveniences.

That's what it says outside, carved in stone. Or at least it used to ... I hope they didn't mess with it.

Could anyone tell me how to contact the administration so that I could let them know that CPS yields no search results?

Haha sorry, I thought CPS neighborhood would have been defined as a wider stretch below 57th and into Midtown rather than just the street itself. Thanks guys.

Click on the circled numbers on the map. HH is #150 -- zillions of listings.

Yeah, I guess CPS doesn't liked being lumped in with Hell's Kitchen. Go figure.

Hey, given how real estate agents pimp out their listings I wouldn't be surprised.

I'm fascinated by that area, too, though I find many of the apartments are tiny & the prices are daunting. In searching StreetEasy, just putting Central Park South doesn't work, you actually have to put each building number in & then search. Try these: 24, 36, 40, 50, 100, 106, 110, 116, 120, 128, 150, 160, 200, 210, 220, 222, 240, all CPS.

Thanks man, really appreciate it. It's sort of hard to fathom how the apartment prices here have skyrocketed. I know how much a park view is worth to people, but honestly it's pretty busy and used to be dirty. Anyone remember this place before gentrification?

They don't all have park views; many have views south over midtown. A park view is WAY expensive. I'm reading "Sister" about Sister Parish, the society decorator. She says, "We had money but not REAL money, as it was known in those days; no second butler or footmen. Neither my grandmother nor mother knew where the kitchen was, though." I digress .......
