Discussion about
i'm an attorney and a licensed NY real estate broker (although thats not how i make my living) and am looking to buy r.e. Any brokers on here have a sense as to whether all or most sell side brokers will waive 1/2 the broker fee for me? I know they do it as a courtesy to full time brokers. thanks,

Don't all answer at once now. I presume the deafening silence is due to brokers not wanting to let the secret discount out to the masses. I dont blame them.

I sold one of the buildings I represented to an attorney/broker/buyer where I agreed to treat it as a cobroke situation. I work for myself though so there are no "company rules" that may for whatever reason prohibit it.

#3. Interesting. If there are any such 'company rules,' they stand a snowball's chance in hell of standing up to judicial scrutiny.

To clarify: There is no reason for me to think that large firms have company rules forbidding this, I am simply stating that as an independent, I make my own "company rules" and thus was not speaking for the brokerage community at large in my response.
