I've always LOVED Salma Hayek since I saw her fixer house in the Hollywood Hills with potted lime trees around the pool "for the tequila".

Isn't that sweet? All those wealthy people tossing a salad together instead of going to Per Se.

Says Dr. Wilder of the prospective recovery: "pathetic."

More colorful language than I would use, but if current forecasts come true, the early stages of the recovery will be as unusual as the recession itself.

The number of US prime borrowers behind on home loan payments has risen sharply, signalling further problems for banks and investors.

Standard & Poor’s said higher unemployment combined with a prolonged housing market slump had afflicted even the highest quality borrowers.

The dollar volume of prime mortgages in delinquency or default rose 13.8 per cent between March and June, according to a study of private-label prime, subprime and Alt-A home loans conducted by S&P. Borrowers of Alt-A loans have slightly better credit histories than subprime borrowers.

wage income continues to slide.

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/ea8012ca-80f7-11de-92e7-00144feabdc0.html

But wage income has continued to decline, dropping $28.6bn in June, compared with a decrease of $11.3bn in May. “Wage income remains 5 per cent below its year-ago level and is clearly on a downward trajectory,” said Joseph Brusuelas, director of Moody’s Economy.com. “The concern is that there’s not sufficient income to support the consumption necessary to move out of recession. The data support our forecast of a mild recovery.”

they lag, and lag, and lag, until you wonder if they're really lagging. and what they're lagging. and why they lag for so long, if they are indeed lagging.
