My wife just called (we live down the block and she was going to our garage, passing by 2 Fifth) and said there are PD, FD, etc. all over the place over there.
The article talks about the brownstone which used to be there, but fails to mention Minetta Brook ( http://watercourses.typepad.com/watercourses/minetta-brook.html) which ran directly under 2 Fifth and they used to have this cute little monument to it in the lobby with a little water spigot spewing out what was supposed to be Minetta Brook water.
Who knows? Maybe after all these year Minetta Brook eroded the foundation and caused some foundation shift?
Ignored comment.

30yrs, I believe you can still actually see the Brook through the lobby, though depends on recent rainfall. I wouldn't be surprised if that had something to do with it.
