Discussion about
You're going to pay fair market value on something that costs as much as a home so . . .
If you don't see the point, why don't you leave.
Bye!
if you are a a member and are actually looking to purchase a home it is incredibly useful since they show actual closing prices. it brought a level of transparency to the new york city market that was previously unavailable to anyone but brokers.
For AR to tell everyone how wonderful she is
If you are a serious buyer, you will figure out why it is useful.
SE is a very revolutionary tool that empowers buyers. It has helped me enormously, and gave the opportunity to meet very wonderful people (beautiful indeed, printer,) like ar, alanhart, west81st, joedavis, who were extremely helpful to me. As soon as my contract is signed, I'll dedicate a thank you thread to them and others who enlightened my RE search (like 30yrs, UD and many others...)
AR is wonderful so she has no need to state the obvious, on SE or anywhere.
What's the point of this thing? What's the point? You don't get it, do you?
This whole thing... it was all created... for you. Everything.
From the housing bubble
to the magical internet robots
to the first links from curbed
to the initial competition with natefind
to the collapse of the MLS deal
to the deals with all the major brokerage houses
to steve's stand up comedy
to the bizarre obsession with LIC
to the crossover of peterfitz from random curbed punter to SE fixture
to the rent versus buy wars
to the creation of ru**fus and e-butter**y
to the comps and price chopper threads
to the unmasking of w81st
to Noah creating his own firm and juice having a baby
The entire universe conspired to create this housing bubble, this website, this message board so that one day you might come here looking for advice on parking (I believe) and inadvertently stumble upon your darkest fears and desires and unknowingly unmask them with your offhand comments about Chelsea and how gross it was that/those people/would do/that/you know/in public.
Initially mistaken as buffoonery, it soon became clear that the disgust was a little too potent to be indifference or ignorance -- it was latent, gurgling, something. The disgust... simply a worn-tired disguise? But for what, for why? At that point, in a flash of collective self-realization, the formerly aimless community found its purpose -- it wasn't to determine the right rent to buy ratio or the right cap rate or the best neighborhood -- it was for you to become who you are.
So, yes, the point of it all... from the big bang's initial configuration, the universe hurtled forward with all its efforts aimed at the creation of this board for you. So that, one day, in one random universe, you'd "accidently" find yourself by being lost. Getting off your harley on far West 28th street, furtive glance left-right, palms sweating under driving gloves, mirrored glasses still on at night, bandana tied, heart racing in anticipation, the disgust thawing under the modern-day sunshine of lasers and disco balls.
I think I'm in love.
wow
So Stick_man has been outed?!?
Posts like skinnyNsweet's (Shakespearean!) offer a big added value to my points below. Some tremendous writers here, some windows out of our little speculative threads.
woah that is certainly in competition for best post ever
hey drdrd---not that there's anything wrong with that either
skinny is a special state of being--i never knew
"You're going to pay fair market value on something that costs as much as a home"
That's not what recent history suggests...it suggests people made much, much more than fair market value for many years...the purpose of MY involvement on websites like this is the same purpose that preacher has on Sunday: To try to save a few souls ...
typo: should say "people PAID", not people "made"...
Skinny has blown my mind
and apparently done the same to the stickster. way to go.
To pickup girls and get laid?
To everything that SkinnyNSweet wrote, let us say "amen". (And that's probably the first time in my life I've given praise to anyone who identified as "skinny".)
P.S. McHale, some of us could care less about picking up girls..guys on the other hand.
