Hi I am looking at a pre-war apartment in the east 70's. The floor in the living room is sloping. Is that something that I would be responsible for fixing if I bought the apartment or is the Building responsible for fixing it?
Ask your lawyer. My thought is (lay person here) that you're buying into the building & the building is responsible for maintenance & repair of the building but, of course, you ultimately will pay 'cause it will be your building. I rented an apartment once & the 2 bay windows overlooking the street sloped toward the street & I thought it was charming but I was just renting. Had it been my building I would have been thinking of structural issues & not the charm.
