Discussion about Greg Bibens
I recently used Greg Bibens to find an apartment. I have since recommended him to many of my friends. He is one of the MOST ethical brokers out there--so anyone that doesn't give him credit is a moron! People have complained on here because he wouldn't show them something. He is busy, and doesn't need his time wasted on one apartment. Give me a break people. I saw 5 or 6 with him, and he showed me the perfect place!!!
lol
nyc_renter, more people than not on http://www.streeteasy.com/nyc/talk/discussion/10953-rental-at-226-west-97th-street-dont-deal-with-greg-bibens agree that Greg Bibens is a highly highly unethical broker.
i think if the op is going to slam someone by name he should have the decency to use his real name and not hide behind anonimity. all this broker did is decide whom he wants to do business with, on his terms. the building is an open listing, the op could have done a bit of homework and found someone else to show it to him.
jim, I'm not sure that people put too much stock in these anonymous reviews. Just as there are tons of bad brokers to deal with, and bad landlords to deal with, there are also tons of bad renters to deal with and also renters who don't understand the market and want the kid glove treatment... . Frank Sinatra didn't make up the lyrics to New York, New York (if you can make it here you can make it anywhere) based on a bad movie he watched about the future when robots took over.
One would hope that a smart prospective renter or buyer who is thoughtful enough to visit streeteasy isn't going blindly into a transaction and a dealing with a broker or landlord. And certainly brokers and landlords are watching out for their interests, running credit checks, collecting personal information (think about all of the personal details a landlord has on you includng your SSN and credit report, PLUS keys to your place and knowing when you come and go), taking security deposits, requiring bank checks, etc.
i'm fairly certain that almost no prospective renter even recalled this thread. until somebody brought it up. agent rachel will forever remain etched in our memories, but most wouldn't recall her last name if they tried. and AR fully took part in the process.
it's hysterical how these people come on here with these sunshiney reviews about brokers that have been trashed on SE, in some demented attempt to do some kind of damage control, and it ends up having the opposite effect, dredging up the old chains and inciting the fury of the regulars who they lash out against in their rebuttals. when will they learn?
