willing to consider any nationality, but must have financial backing. approximately 15 out of 47 units closed, 8 active rental listings. sales started 06/07, closings started 06/09. http://www.streeteasy.com/nyc/building/33-west-56-street-new_york

Can anyone verify the closings are accurate?

I am not an insider and my acris search turns up block # 01272.

My searches on the last 3 units(5d,7d,7c) showing sold come up empty.

there are actually new listings in this building, which is why i noticed it. i don't know if those are sponsor rentals, or buyer rentals.

truthskr, here's one of them, hopefully it will get you where you need to be.

ah, many thanks aboutready.
I don't know why I have occasional trouble with acris and it's "find property" feature.

So 5d, the bank would only give(assuming) 900K for a mortgage. At 1045 sq ft, the bank feels relatively safe at $861 a square foot.
The buyer who had to painfully wait 2 years to be forced to close at 2,700,000 is probably wondering what is the korean translation for hara kiri.

I never understood this building. Could I.M Pei find no other space/lot in NY to build something? Location is terrible unless you don't mind living across the street from mid-town lunch delis, dive bars, and cheap sushi joints. All for $2,500 sq ft. yikes!

That stretch of 56th is also lined with restaurant trash every morning - can't believe they picked it for such a fancy bldg.

So for that I can pay $12K a month to rent a one bedroom. The good news is that for that they allow pets...my cats would enjoy all smells from the cheap sushi joints.

How this did building escape the hype machine with IMPei the architect and all? Don't know how they're maintaining $3000/ft prices without fanfare a la 15 CPW.

Nice note in todays NYT about a surgeon who recently moved in and was surprised to find that the apts come unpainted despite the lofty prices. The offering plan states only primer will be placed on the walls.

pretty pricey but I was checking the building and its amenities are nice.. agreed that they should have the decency to paint your walls for that price

Tough location. I walk down 56th St. and past this building almost every day for lunch, walking by garbage thrown out on the sidewalk mediocre $10 midtown lunch spots, a tourist hourly bike rental shop with bikes blocking the sidewalk, and a parking lot/loading dock that always smells like garbage in the summer. Then you pass the Centurion, which is indeed a gorgeous building, and wonder who would live on this awful street? Conclusion: must be absentee foreigners who don't know any better.
