We have been hanging on w/o any hourly cuts to anyone but, this puts the ax in my hand.

Expecting RE to stabilize or increase in value? The only thing that will drive the cost of RE up now is the shrinling value of the dollar.

Hey, I'm self-employed & have to pay it, and my "commute" is from one bedroom to another, where I have my office. This to save people who do commute - via the East River bridges - from having to pay a toll.
Makes sense to me!

who cares about the cost of the toll, if you had to stop every car coming in over the williamsburg to collect it, it would take 2 days to get from brooklyn/queens to manhattan! it is total insanity. we don't have the infrastructure. i am of course opposed to the toll as well, but that is a secondary concern.

It is easy to add a toll without toll booths, you would require the use of EZPass or a daily pass purchased online, similar to what London does.

modern is correct, and honestly, a toll booth would control the flow of traffic into Manhattan (if you make it a one-way toll), which would further control the traffic.

And here's where I have to remind everyone that it would be the *restoration* of East River tolls (at least for the Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburgh bridges ... Feeling Groovy might have been toll-free from the start).

hello lamp post... i don't like the big brother aspect of it either.. the way they are doing with metrocards, that you have to get a token put onto your credit card, there are trying to totally phase out cash-purchases and anonymity, and the MTA is spending billions of dollars to do this stupid thing.. i don't care what you say, the traffic would be terrible, all those cars would have to at least pause... bad, bad, bad.

I will do just about anything to keep great employees. After 22 yrs in business I can say that I have a superb team working with me. Theres only 8 of them but, they have now all been with me for some time. This is the longest I have gone without riding myself or having to replace or grow. New bodies is always a sorce of stress. For this reason I have done everything that I can to keep them all, even though business does not merit it. They all work here and they all know the eco conditions. If we dont see some noticable increase we will have to trim the sails. I guess my point is that the powers that be view me as cow they can milk as hard as they want regardless of my well being. This I resent. Small business is the backbone of this city but, the burden is giving me scoliosis.

i think that the tax the rich attitude in albany will also have a very negative long term impact on new york. the tax increases effective july 1 will and is driving people out of n.y.
