Those who live in glass cities should not be throwing stones. Last time I checked, NYC lost the 2012 Olympics to London. So we are no better than Chicago.

"we are no better than Chicago," says New Jersey to New York.

ROTFL... well done, alan.

Btw, chicago lost out to RIO, not London. A nearly third-world city and I believe the AIDS capital of the world. More importantly... NYC lost because *they didn't want it*. City didn't support a stadium - a requirement for the olympics - and the polls showed the city didn't want it Truth be told, NYC rejected the olympics...

And, according to Bloomberg... the selection committee decided against Chicago because it wasn't a high profile city.

Find it amazing how much support RIO had from ordinary Americans. It was the right thing to do.

Chicago didn't want the olympics either. Only 47% wanted it.

"And, according to Bloomberg... the selection committee decided against Chicago because it wasn't a high profile city."

Neither are Calgary, Torino, Atlanta, and Salt Lake City, yet they all got the olympics. Oh, and let's not forget that Lake Placid, NY once had the olympics. And don't tell me lake Placid is "high profile."

RIO is better TV. The U.S. has had the Olympics before. If the U.S. had sponsored the olympics again it would have been a money loser. A shame so much political prestige was wasted on something like this.

Alpo, you're confusing summer and winter... winter is almost always somewhere remote.

> Chicago didn't want the olympics either. Only 47% wanted it.

Difference is, the Chicagoans here noted it as the best thing going for Chicago.

And, again, why do you keep saying "we"?

"A nearly third-world city and I believe the AIDS capital of the world."

That would probably be Johannesburg.

"And, again, why do you keep saying "we"?"

Hypocrisy, thy ZIP is 10022!

what a disaster. American prestige wasted on a failed bid to host the Olympics. What were they thinking?
