Frankly bed bugs was the least of the issues -- it was the massive flooding in previous years - and building not wanting to/being able to afford to fix it.

In my experience, all buildings have some sort of creature inhabitation, whether it's bed bugs, roaches, or even rats.

This is a good thing - the longer you can hold out the better your apartment will be - patience is a virtue.

I've never lived in a building in NYC with roaches or mice. I did live in a building with a bedbug problem on the other side of the building, but it was dealt with quickly.
