Suing Her Label (starbucks), Not Retiring: Carly Simon Won’t Go Gently
"And her financial situation had worsened: she owed money on her Martha’s Vineyard house, had put her Village apartment on the market without success, and had lost money in the stock market."
watch out real*hores, if Carly doesn't win the Starbucks case, she will come after you for not being able to retire. Next wall street. If only every single boomer that cannot retire would follow her lead... it would be fun, that's for sure.

Isn't her sister the "successful real estate broker (girlfriend of the late Walter Conkrite)"? Perhaps, she should find a new broker.

i'm telling you, don't understand why law firms are not making adds on TV the way they do it with accidents and disability.

She was asking 3.8m for a smallish 2br on Commerce St.
the fact that the listing mentions famous celebrity says it all. kind of sad.

The dining area kind of reminded me of a dressed up version of where Hannibal Lecter might keep his prey. kinda spooky.

Lets not forget that Carly was hauling in the bucks when Manhattan was having a RE fire sale (end of the 70's). I would have thought she would have a place to go with that price.

Few artists are good at managing $. The Beatles (canny Liverpool lads) were smart. Ditto the Stones.

I think it was Mick Jagger who lamented that it wasn't very long before it became less about the music & more about the accountants.

I thought that Carly's place in the Village had charm but it was quirky (yes, that's a bathtub) but only for a single or a pair of lovebirds.

I just came across an apartment that is owned by the Walton's(walmart) grandkids.
There is a lien for common charges since January '09.
Times are tough for everyone I guess.
Time to short Walmart or just trust fund neglect?

I really can't imagine that they're in real trouble other than perhaps drugs or alcohol & sloppy bill paying habits.

don't know which is the walmart parent in this case. all have around $18Bl each except for Alice that has $20Bl thanks to First Solar. if they pass a crumb here and there to the kids, there shouldn't be any issue paying maintenance costs. unless this specific parent is stingy with his kids the way buffett is.

Both sides of the family are extremely wealthy.
I am certain it is something sloppy related but I would think the Walton family may not like the PR if it got out.
I know some very not nice things about Damon Dash. He should be in a brazilian jail.

celebrity is a double edged sword. brokers use it to pitch space but out here it highlights an overpriced, cluttered POS which can't sell in this market at half the ask.

definitely overpriced. i wouldn't be surprised if she first figured out how much she wanted for retirement, add to that transaction costs ... and voila! that's the asking price with no relationship whatsoever to the current market on the hope of finding that one white knight.
a couple of boomers (family members) that i know went through the same aspiration. they priced their home for what 2 condos would cost (one to live on and the other to rent). no white knights in this story though, so they "cannot" downsize.
