Nobody is representing the actual lender who is takes all the losses and sees their retirement fund blown) We got a little problem here..... http://www.calculatedriskblog.com/2009/10/mba-ceo-cant-modify-mortgage-with-no.html

Loans that aren't full doc(and i mean stated doc, no income no asset, etc) are just fraud.....

“You can’t modify someone if they don’t have income or a job. We have to be realistic going forward. If we are going to play a numbers game, we are going to see a smaller percentage of borrowers in default able to be modified. It’s an unfortunate and difficult fact we are going to have to face.”
John Courson, president and CEO of the MBA, Oct 13, 2009.

Maybe those NINJA loans weren't such a good idea either? (No income, no job and no assets)

But Riversider, if all those banks fail, they not only take with them all the bad loans they made, everyone who has savings in those banks will also be wiped out. The total financial collapse of our country, and then the world, is at stake, isn't it? I'm not sure that is the best solution.

NYrenbie,
There is a good case to be made in many cases for forebearance and loan modification, but not all cases. Personally, I 'm nore in the Vogle, Black, Johnson camp that thinks we need to go bring back Glass Stegal to the best of our ability and to seperate commercial banking from investment banking(the former would qualify for FDIC and Fed priv and insurance). Citbank and other overly large institutions need to be downsized. I'd like to see the mid-tier banking instutions encouraged to provide more classical funding to Main Street economy.
