Here are the next few for those that are curious:
9 (TIE) 51 Fifth Avenue (CR Score: 59)
9 (TIE) 41 Fifth Avenue (CR Score: 59)
10. 33 Fifth Avenue (CR Score: 58 )
11. 45 Fifth Avenue (CR Score: 56)
20 Fifth Avenue is not ranked because it is a Rental Building...if it were, I would imagine it would place just outside the top 5; because the units I've seen are fairly well laid out (through building one-bedrooms with nice cross breezes) and geniunely charming details such as recessed livingrooms. However the lobby leaves something to be desired.
I think placing 2 fifth above 1 Fifth is insane. 2 Fifth is a fairly hideous building inside and out by any standard. Its greatest asset are views of the park and view of the city from higher floors. Its lobby is grossly dated, the public spaces generic and dowdy, the facade is dirty and finally getting some long overdue maintenance (great swaths of white brick are removed and replaced with green tarps). To rank it #3 seems ludicrous to me. Above 30 Fifth? Are you serious? 30 Fifth doesn't even rank? and 25 Fifth is above 39, and 41? Why? 24 Fifth with all its rentals, peeling facade, odd layouts due to hotel conversion, and monstrous size is above 51 and 41 and 33 and 45?
I don't have a clue as to what is considered in the rankings, but I think I know the relative views from the buildings, the lobbies, the over feel, the quality of layouts. To me, this list seems arbitrary and not worth a lot. If they base rankings on amenities like a children's playroom, then I don't know how to compare the buildings on this "Gold Coast," but in terms of true building quality, this list is a bit unhinged.
