"Of course, everybody’s individual situation is different, but in aggregate we’ve gone from devastation to mere pain. And when you’re involved in something painful, and you can get out of it, a quiet exit is often the best thing you can do. Of course, stocks could go up further from here. But that’s not the point. Unless you can afford to see your stocks fall, you shouldn’t be invested in them."

; )

I know not a single soul who bought at the march nadir and rode this baby up 50%. If anything maybe the govt just wants to prop up one of the 3 legs of wealth. Home, equity mkt and employment. Cause the other two legs have been amputated.

i think institutional wants to sucker retail back in and then leave them looking at an empty punchbowl.

i think salmon is addressing all those poor souls who froze in march and didn't do anything. get out while the getting is good.

One the one hand, I think the massive gains in the stock market represent mass hysteria, since I don't think the earnings justify such dramatic growth.

On the other hand, maybe it makes sense, since the overall trajectory of our economy is the rich getting richer (that is, major shareholders and executives), the middle class treading water, and the truly poor - well who cares what happens with them.

So maybe the champagne should keep on flowing.

This could be a case of the smart money getting in at the bottom and running out the door leaving everyone else in the burning building. Could be the biggest bear trap in history. My recent equities analysis are so pittiful that I would advise all to ignore anything I say*. (*disclaimer)

the market is only down today cause of low volume -- everyone is checking their phones for wiretaps.

No need for wiretaps. We r all on cell. CIA has an office from cheney's home from which to use the naked x Ray machine and peer into our thoughts.

Me too falco, I stopped thinking my dad was a fool to not have 50% in equity market about a year ago. : )
