Discussion about
Would like a very bold patterned curtain (think Farrow and Ball wallpaper) for MBR but don't want to pay for custom drapes since we're in a rental. I'm having trouble finding retailers with decent pre-made options. Any recs? Don't want to pay a fortune for them, but a step or two up from BB&B would be nice.

Try these guys, I've ordered shades from them:

Smith & Noble - many steps up above BB&B. I've never found any place with ready-made options that were cheap. My best deals were Pottery Barn drapes from Ebay.

Without spending $20,000, can anyone recommend good custom drapery/shade place in NYC? We're utterly undecided on panels or shades and really need some guidance. Also, in terms of COM, I know of Beckenstein and Zarin. What are other non-trade showrooms/stores to look at for drapery/shade fabrics?

I had some made at a custom place with no storefront in Flatiron. Reasonable prices, on par with Smith & Noble, but local. If interested, shoot me an email at nyc10023a@yahoo.com.

I like the ones from Anthropologie and it's easy to return them to the store if they're not to your liking.

NWT: those can be hella $$$ (nothing much under $300). And nothing is in stock! The Silk Trading Co. is not doing well financially, and not able to pay its suppliers (my guess).

A second vote for Beckenstein for drapes -- they can do something that looks nice for a couple thousand instead of twenty thousand.
