Discussion about
I recently put in a counter offer on a co-op in Manhattan and I have not heard back. I put the counter in on Friday. Although I have not heard back, I see there was an open house this weekend. Do you think this is a serious seller or are they just jerking me around?
what do you mean by a counter offer?
It depends whether your offer was at ask. Or maybe they are just looking for a back-up
My offer was not at asking. We were in the process of negotiating but were very close to a deal.
Most people will continue to show a place until you have a contract signed by both parties. Especially in a co-op when there is no guaranty you will even pass muster...
Let me guess, no buyers broker to guide you though such things?
Until you have a deal, they can, and will continue to show the apartment. Nothing wrong with that. Close to a deal is not a deal.(and actually, as you have read on this board, until you have a signed contract, NOTHING is a deal).
Plus, the open house was probably scheduled before you put in your counter offer - the ad for the open house was placed in the newspaper before Friday.
smart folks show there place right up to closing....you just never know.
no worries...nothing is flying off the shelf.
