Discussion about
One bedroom appartments seem to be cheaper here than elsewhere in the city. Do you think that prices will fall in this neigbourhood more than in other, more desirable areas such as UWS, Village or Gramercy?

Yorkville has always been less expensive in co-ops/condos and rentals...If prices start falling they'll fall all over but especially in neighborhoods like yorkville.

nyc neighborhoods, esp the ones filled with young professionals in studios and 1BRs, are highly correlated with subway access.

yorkville will remain like this until 2nd Ave Subway is completed, and even when it's done, it's STILL a hike from East End Ave over to the T-line.

same for the far west side (hells kitchen beyond 9 Ave) or alphabet city

It's generally a proximity issue. The UES has only one subway line and it's the most populated. So if you work downtown it can take you longer to get to work than if you live in NJ.

That said, it's a wonderful neighborhood. I just moved there and it feels like a quiet enclave, not as busy or crowded with out-of-towners or tourists on weekends as much as other parts of the city.
