Discussion about
I'm moving out on Nov. 30th can I just give my landlord a typed 30 day notice or do I have to send it via certified mail?
I would send a letter via regular mail & another via certified mail just to cya.
call now -- letter to document conversation. end of lease?
Yes my lease will be ending & my LL knows of my intent to move & just asked that I give her 30 days notice before I do. I was just wondering if that notice has to be sent certified mail or can I just send it regular mail? I don't know that law on this one. Thanks
I might be the only one that takes this position, but unless your lease requires you to give some type of move-out/non-renewal notice, then your moving out by the end of your lease should constitute your notice. Of course, as a courtesy you can/should let your landlord know X number of days beforehand.
I love how rental companies do that. You don't HAVE to do anything.
You signed a lease. It begins. It ends. When it ends, you leave.
It's great that they expect all this documentation from you, but you are under no obligation to give it.
I never gave any documentation to my building. The sent me an offer to renew. I called them and said no.
read your contract and see what it says. our contract required 30 days written notice. didn't want to risk LL holding on to deposit. if your contract requires written notice, i would do certified just to make sure. But if LL has already acknowledged you are leaving, probably not necessary.
