Discussion about
I'll be renovating an apartment soon, and just in case it isn't completed in time I would like to ask if any of you can recommend a good short term, one bedroom, one bath in a doorman building that allows pets? Upper East Side or Upper West preferred.. thanks!

On East 64th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue right across from the Manhattan Ear and Eye Hospital is the Lyden Gardens Hotel. I've stayed there and I know other people who have stayed there for several weeks at a time because each room has a full size refrigerator, stove, utensils, pots, etc. I think the hotel used to be a rental building and that'e how the rooms are still designed. Of course, you don't have the privacy of staying in an apartment, but you do have maid service. No restaurant in the hotel. You can inquire if they offer weekly or monthly rates.

a couple of months ago i found a great aggregator site that had links to numerous resources, but now i can't find it here or on the web. i'll keep looking because it's a great resource.

OT, sort of, in searching i found out that silverstein's new silver towers has converted a bit over 100 of their units to furnished housing, 6 month or longer leases.

I've used a place called Affordable New York City several times before (I've been really pleased with them!). They specialize in bed and breakfasts and fully furnished apartments. I've never rented something for a month, but they should be able to find something in your budget. Their address is www affordablenewyorkcity com (make sure to replace the spaces with ".").

Good luck!

with longer rental and at least a month in advance, the smaller units start at around $300 per wk.
