Discussion about
does anyone know of a site where i can enter an address and get the proximity to the nearest subway line. or perhaps show on a map.

HopStop might be helpful. It's a site for directions, but will show you closest public transport to whatever address you enter as your start location.
Of course, google has the subway map too now, but still, not as good as onNYTurf.

Pretty sure you can go onto Google Maps, click on the "M" marking of the subway station you expect to walk to, and choose "Directions to here". Then type the name of the building you'll be walking from, and the Google directions will give you directions with a distance and walking time. You may have to select "walking" versus "driving".
Thanks all!
Yah, streeteasy has the google map integrated so you can look for the "M"'s near your building and zoom in to see what stop it is.
You can also use hopstop on streeteasy---they put the link right over the map and you just put in your start address to get directions. Not the biggest hopstop lover, but it's great for NYC.
