I am considering getting a dog. In my current building (condo I own) pretty much anything is allowed, but I am a little concerned about having my options severely restricted if/when I move in the future (probably not for a few years at least). So my question is this - generally, is it hard to find good buildings that allow dogs? And do the buildings that allow dogs tend to have restrictions on sizes and breeds allowed? I could end up either renting or buying again in the future. Also, if anyone knows of specific dog-friendly buildings (especially in West Village or UES) please let me know - I really want a dog, but feel like I need to know I have at least a few definite options for the future before getting one. Final question - anyone have experience with medium-sized dogs (e.g., 60-65 lbs) in a NYC apartment? I've generally read that as long as you give the dog plenty of exercise it shouldn't be an issue, but would love to hear from people who have actually done it (toy "lap dogs" are not as appealing to me) Thanks! PS - please save any editorials about how annoying or irresponsible dogs or dog owners are. I will pick up after my dog! [less]
